Write for Service Break

We’re building a space for sports writing that values depth, clarity, and perspective, and we’re looking for contributors who share that vision.

Service Break welcomes pitches from writers with a strong sense of story and a thoughtful approach to sport. We’re especially interested in:

• Reporting and features on local or underrepresented sporting communities
• Essays that explore the cultural, political, or personal dimensions of sport
• Interviews, profiles, or match-day reflections with a fresh angle
• Visually driven pieces in collaboration with photographers

You don’t need to have a long list of bylines, but we’re looking for voices that are curious, informed, and respectful of the craft.

If you’d like to pitch, please send us a short email outlining your idea, any relevant links or clips, and a few lines about who you are. We also welcome introductions from photographers, designers, and editors who’d like to collaborate.

This is an ongoing call. We review submissions on a rolling basis.
